More Impressions and Ads, Less Earnings

One of my websites is getting decent traffic and revenue from adsense. Earning an average of $16 per day is already a bonus for me since having my own websites and blogs is just a part time job. I recently tried several social bookmarking sites like stumble upon and digg and as expected, my traffic stats went up. However, I noticed that with the same number of clicks, from almost the same sources of traffic and the same location of visitors, my adsense went down to $7 per day. I have already heard rumors about adsense earnings dropping down from my SEO Exeter friends and other online communities. According to them, and what I experienced just confirms it, that having more ads in a websites pages and decreases the over all adsense earnings.
This means that if your website’s traffic increases but the number of ad clicks it receives does not, you can expect lower adsense earnings. A page having three ad units will generate three page impressions. By minimizing the ads placed in your website’s pages, you will increase the ratio of you clicks to page views. Having more ads in your website does not mean you are increasing the possibility of ad clicks. Only a good ad placement does that. Anyway, this is purely based on my observation and experience.
