Industrial Computing has been one of the most useful innovations of today that have made our lives a lot easier and faster. This type of system has varied functions and benefits used in different fields of different industries. Some of the functions and benefits that have been brought by Industrial Computing is the synchronization and automation of equipments use on the field of medicine, software and hardware used in online or computer gaming, advancements in aeronautics and faster links and developments in banking industries through the use of Smart Cards and Bonus Cards. But one of the latest functions of industrial computing is its building automation system or BAS.
A Building Automation System (BAS) is an example of a Distributed control system. Building automation describes the functionality provided by the control system. The control system is a computerized, intelligent network of electronic devices, designed to monitor and control the mechanical and lighting systems in a building. BAS core functionality keeps the building climate within a specified range, provides lighting based on an occupancy schedule, and monitors system performance and device failures and provides email or text notifications to building engineering staff. The BAS functionality reduces building energy and maintenance costs when compared to a non-controlled building.
